Scripps geophysicist Michael Hedlin investigates a range of
sound that the human ear cannot detect—that of infrasound.
By participating in the establishment of global infrasound
monitoring stations, Hedlin can help governments and other
scientists monitor both natural and anthropogenic phenomena
such as earthquakes, hurricanes, meteors, volcanic explosions,
and even nuclear explosions.
